New Highway 109 speed limits making impact

Wilson County law enforcement agencies said driver speeds appeared to have dipped on Highway 109 following the recent lowering of speed limits there.

Stretches along Highway 109 from Lebanon Road to the Sumner County line were reduced to 50 mph (from 55) earlier this year, and speed limits from the I-40 interchange to Lebanon Road were lowered to 45 mph.

TDOT Regional Communications Director Erin Zeigler said the speed reductions are an effort to promote safer and more efficient travel along the roadway. Highway 109 has had more than 1,500 wrecks since 2019, according to Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security data…
