NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — Immigration enforcement is on the rise in Davidson County, with new data showing a sharp increase in the number of detainees transferred to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody despite the county no longer being part of a formal ICE partnership.
In March, 56 people were released to ICE from the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office, the highest monthly total in over a year. In the first three months of 2025, 126 detainees have been transferred, already accounting for nearly half of all ICE transfers recorded in all of 2024.
ICE detainer requests are also rising, with 76 issued in March. Among those detained was a pregnant woman from Council Member Ginny Welsch’s district. Welsch says the woman was initially held on domestic violence charges, but her case was retired, which is equivalent to dismissing a case…
