50 kilograms of cocaine, more than $250K in cash seized following arrest outside Nashville hotel

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Two men face federal charges following their arrest after a deadly shooting outside a Nashville hotel Wednesday, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Tennessee.

The arrest was the result of a months-long investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation into individuals suspected of trafficking large quantities of drugs into the area. Authorities identified two individuals involved as Deshawn, also known as Deshaune, Jones and Larry Stoker.

On Tuesday, agents learned Jones had gone to the Nashville International Airport and picked up Stoker, who had arrived on a flight later that evening. Jones dropped Stoker off at a hotel on 29th Avenue North. As agents surveilled the hotel, they saw Calvin Trahan arrive in a vehicle with a registration out of Texas.

On Wednesday morning, agents reportedly saw Stoker go to the vehicle previously driven by Trahan. Trahan unlocked the vehicle from still inside the hotel and Stoker started to unload heavy bags from the vehicle.

Later Thursday morning, Jones drove to the same hotel from his Charlotte Avenue apartment. Jones, carrying a blue suitcase, met Stoker outside the hotel and the two entered together. Jones and Stoker later emerged carrying the bags Stoker had unloaded from Trahan’s vehicle as well as the blue suitcase. Agents approached and identified themselves as law enforcement officers; Stoker and Jones fled on foot. Stoker was apprehended. Meanwhile, Jones was shot by a DEA agent and died at the hospital.
