Strong Storms Possible This Afternoon and Evening

Thunderstorms continue early this afternoon across Northwest Alabama over parts of Lamar, Marion, Winston, Franklin, and Lawrence counties.

Isolated strong storms are possible this afternoon and evening across central and northern Alabama, southern Tennessee, and central Mississippi. While a few storms could produce gusty winds up to 60 mph and hail around quarter size, the severe threat remains limited and no watch is expected. Storms will be most likely along and ahead of a weak, slow-moving front, with the greatest risk across areas that manage to see more sunshine and destabilization. Expect a hit-or-miss pattern, with some locations staying mostly dry while others see heavier downpours and rumbles of thunder.

It could be a stormy evening from Meridian to Tuscaloosa to Birmingham between 6-11 p.m. tonight, if the HRRR is right……
