The City Released the following warning:
It has been brought to our attention that an email scam stating that you had an item on the Planning Commission Agenda (and in some cases, other city board agendas) that requires a payment is being sent to local residents and developers. This is not an official email, it is a scam. Do not open any emails you may receive that state you owe funds or have an open invoice. This phishing attempt is targeting individuals who have recently had a project on a board’s public agenda. It will likely have an attachment labeled “INVOICE” Do not open that attachment. These emails have been reported to the Tullahoma Police Department and our IT team, as well as City Administration.
The email will be very convincing and appear to be an official notice from the Planning and Development Department or another City Department. It will have real information regarding the exact project you had on the agenda, stating that you now owe a large amount of fees for that project. The City of Tullahoma does not email invoices out to anyone. There will never be any invoices emailed to you for additional fees for any transaction with the city…
