3-day weather radio outage to affect our Tennessee, North Carolina viewing area counties

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — All Tennessee and North Carolina counties in our viewing area will experience a weather radio outage for upgrades starting Tuesday morning, and continuing into Friday.

That comes as some shower activity is in the forecast each day through the end of this week.

Here’s the list of counties in Tennessee affected by this weather radio outage, which is a required system upgrade:

  • Bledsoe
  • Bradley
  • Grundy
  • Hamilton
  • Marion
  • McMinn
  • Meigs
  • Monroe
  • Polk
  • Rhea
  • Sequatchie

The outage will also affect users in Cherokee and Clay Counties in North Carolina.

The National Weather Service (NWS) says this outage will begin Tuesday at 8 a.m. and end Friday at about 4 p.m., so it can carry out a required, scheduled update to their Advanced Weather Interactive Processing System (AWIPS) system.
