Bluff City Task Force: Tennessee Highway Patrol announces new initiative with local law enforcement

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) announced a plan Thursday, May 29, to work with local law enforcement agencies to combat violent crime in Memphis.

The THP and state agencies are reportedly expanding their presence and partnerships in West Tennessee to support local law enforcement agencies and “address persistent violence through coordinated patrols and targeted operations,” according to a release from the THP.

The initiative, known as the Bluff City Task Force, has already garnered results across the city. Since its launch in early May, the Bluff City Task Force has arrested repeat offenders and seized firearms that have been “linked to homicides and shootings in neighboring states.”…
