RUTHERFORD CO., Tenn. (WGNS) – Rutherford County is facing an elevated risk of severe weather weeks end, with the greatest threat expected on Friday. Residents should prepare for the possibility of strong storms, heavy rain, and damaging winds, especially as many outdoor events and activities are planned heading into the weekend.

Friday presents the most widespread and significant threat. The entire region, including Rutherford County, is under a Level 2 out of 5 (Slight Risk) for severe thunderstorms. With ample moisture and instability in place, storms are expected to develop by afternoon and evening. A complex of storms arriving from West Tennessee will increase the potential for damaging winds.
