Extreme heat expected across Middle Tennessee this week

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — The National Weather Service is warning residents across Middle Tennessee to prepare for a prolonged stretch of dangerous heat, with temperatures and humidity levels expected to soar into potentially hazardous territory over the coming days.

Highs will climb into the 90s this weekend, but forecasters say the worst is still to come. From Tuesday through Friday next week, the region is expected to experience a major to extreme heat risk, with heat index values climbing just above 100 degrees.

“This is not your average summer heat,” NWS Nashville said in a statement. “The combination of high temperatures and humidity will make for dangerous conditions — especially for those working or spending extended time outdoors.”…
