NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Tennessee Department of Correction will launch a pilot program for digital inmate mail delivery at three facilities across the state.
In a Monday press release, TDOC announced that in an effort to reduce contraband and increase security, mail would be received at a centralized, off-site facility in Maryland before being delivered to inmates in a digital format via TDOC-issued tablets.
The pilot program would start on August 1 and apply to inmates at the Debra K. Johnson Rehabilitation Facility, the Women’s Therapeutic Residential Center and the Bledsoe County Correctional Complex. Digital delivery will not come at any cost to the inmate and inmates will be ale to access their letters during the duration of their incarceration…
