Tennessee among Top 5 dangerous states for commuters, study shows

Tennessee recently ranked No. 4 on the list of most dangerous states for commuters. The study, conducted by Hasbrook & Hasbrook Personal Injury Lawyers, evaluated commuting data across the U.S. and ranked states based on factors including fatal crashes per 10,000 commuters, average commute times, and public transportation usage.

Overall, Tennessee recorded 4.4 accidents per 10,000 commuters, a rate 2.5 times lower than top-ranked Illinois. This figure was calculated using crash data from NHTSA and employment statistics from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics over a five-year period.

The state posts a 25-minute average commute time, placing it among the longest in the top 10. Only 0.6% of Tennessee residents use public transportation, one of the lowest rates among ranked states…
