‘Hopefully prevent tragic events’ | New TN law suspending teens’ driving privileges for bullying

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – A new Tennessee law strengthens the punishment for a minor involved in bullying. The East Tennessee state representative behind the legislation said a stricter penalty was needed for kids to take bullying seriously.

“This right here adds to that to hopefully prevent tragic events,” said State Rep. Lowell Russell of Vonore. “I thought that the driver’s license piece would be pretty important to get their attention.”

Under HB 1025/SB 0170, minors involved in bullying or cyberbullying could now lose driving privileges or the ability to get their licenses for a full year…
