Tennessee woman found dead in 1990 Madison County field identified after 34 years

EDWARDSVILLE — A Tennessee woman whose body was found in a Troy, Illinois, farm field in 1990 has been identified due to improvements in forensic technology, according to the Madison County Sheriff’s Department.

Wynona Nadine Michel, 30, was last seen alive by family members when she visited the Washington, D.C., area in May 1990.

Her body was found on July 20, 1990, in a field near the intersection of Lebanon Road and Troy-O’Fallon Road near Troy. She had been there for about a week prior to being discovered, and her death was investigated as a homicide…
