Alcohol now included in expansion of Good Samaritan Overdose Law

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A state law granting immunity to those who seek medical assistance when they are overdosing or helping someone else during an overdose is now expanding.

“A lot of people who are using substances may be afraid to seek medical help if they are worried that they may be overdosing or if they’re with someone who is overdosing for fear of some sort of legal retribution,” said Courtney Fuson, the director of communications for Metro Drug Coalition.

That’s where Tennessee’s Good Samaritan Overdose Law comes into play…
