Tennessee police rescue 113 dogs from hoarding operation

JOELTON, Tenn. (WKRN) — More than 100 dogs have been rescued from what authorities are calling a large-scale hoarding and breeding operation in Tennessee.

The Cheatham County Sheriff’s Office, alongside Cheatham County Animal Control and the nonprofit Animal Rescue Corps (ARC), responded to a home on the 1000 block of Johns Road on Wednesday. Inside, investigators found 113 dogs, including Yorkshire Terriers, Maltese, Havanese, poodles and several “designer” mixes. The dogs were living in what ARC described as “extremely neglectful conditions.”

ARC reported that many dogs were severely malnourished, matted or soaking wet with urine. Several puppies in critical condition were rushed to an emergency veterinarian, and at least one dog was found dead at the scene.

The floor of the home was covered in urine and feces, rising nearly a foot up the walls in every room, according to ARC’s Director of Administration, Michael Cunningham. The stench of ammonia was so intense, rescuers had to wear protective gear and respirators to safely enter…
