NASHVILLE, TN – A Rutherford County woman is facing serious charges following her arrest in connection with a fatal drug overdose earlier this year. Tonya Furness, 41, of La Vergne, was taken into custody around midnight on Monday by detectives from the Specialized Investigations Division (SID), with support from the La Vergne Police Department.
Furness was indicted by a Davidson County Grand Jury on charges of second-degree murder and delivery of a controlled substance stemming from the February 8, 2025, death of 30-year-old Carson Gregg. Gregg was found unresponsive in his Hermitage home on New Hope Meadow Road. The Medical Examiner later determined his death was caused by fentanyl toxicity.
