World’s longest yard sale returns to East Tennessee for 39th year

CROSSVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — An annual yard sale event spanning six states and nearly 700 miles is winding its way through East Tennessee once again.

The 127 Yard Sale officially kicked off Thursday and will continue through Sunday. The route goes from Gadsden, Alabama all the way to Addison, Michigan for a total length of 690 miles. While yard sales will be set up all along the route, many areas called “Major Vendor Stops” will feature 25 vendors or more.

Vendors typically open between 8-9 a.m. and stay open until 5 p.m., according to the event’s official website, though it does note that some opt to stay open into the evening or until dark.

The event name comes from Highway 127, the U.S. Highway along which most of the event takes place. It has taken place annually since 1987.
