Murfreesboro, TN – Around 5:30 Friday evening (8/8/2025), a multi-vehicle crash brought rush hour traffic to a crawl in the 1200 block of Fortress Boulevard near I-24—one of Rutherford County’s busiest corridors—just as commuters were heading home for the weekend.
Emergency crews from Murfreesboro Fire-Rescue, Murfreesboro Police, and Rutherford County EMS responded swiftly to the scene. Despite the congestion, officers managed to keep two outbound lanes open by relocating the involved vehicles. That allowed traffic to continue flowing, albeit slowly.
