Rutherford County parents report bus issues at start of school year

RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — Parents in Rutherford County are voicing concerns over new bus routes.

The day before school started, Rockvale Middle School parent Rachel Sloan went online to check her daughter’s bus pick-up time. She said her daughter’s normal route wasn’t posted, so she called the district transportation office.

“His exact words to me were, ‘Due to the rezoning this year and some of the contract negotiations with the drivers, a lot of the routes had just been dropped,’” Sloan said. “And they didn’t really have an explanation why… He sent in a request for a route for our daughter, said it could take up to a week, but that she would not have transportation that first week of school.”…
