La Vergne, TN – A mid-August metal theft case has been cracked wide open thanks to a mix of sharp police work and high-tech tools. It all started when La Vergne Police Officer Jeralds responded to a report from Allvan, a business on Murfreesboro Road in La Vergne. About $2,000 worth of aluminum and metal was reported as missing. The buinese’s surveillance footage wasn’t crystal clear, but the policeman spotted some key details—enough to get the ball rolling.
That’s when the city’s Automated License Plate Reader system came into play. By tracing the suspect’s vehicle on Murfreesboro Road just before the theft, Officer Jeralds was able to identify the driver as Thomas Warrick. The investigation didn’t stop there. More video evidence surfaced from Express, a location on Dick Buchanan Street, showing Warrick scrapping the stolen metal. That was enough to secure a felony theft warrant.
Later that same day, La Vergne Officers Jeralds and McCall, along with a supervisor, tracked Thomas Warrick down to his home in Murfreesboro. He was arrested without incident and admitted to the crime…
