The State Fair: Lebanon, TN Police Balance Fair Safety with Local Arrests Amid Busy Week with Massive Crowds

LEBANON, TN — While thousands of visitors flocked to the Tennessee State Fair at the Wilson County Fairgrounds, Lebanon Police officers were busy addressing crime elsewhere in the city. The fair, which continues through Sunday, August 24, 2025, has drawn massive crowds in recent years, with more than 861,000 attendees in 2024 and over 739,000 in 2023.

Thousands of guests, participants, and vendors at the Wilson County–Tennessee State Fair come from Rutherford County. Many of them are active members of the county’s agriculture community, contributing livestock, crops, and expertise to one of the state’s largest annual events.

This past Sunday evening, as the fair was well underway, C-Shift officers responded to a possible shoplifting incident at Walmart. According to police, a 31-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman were taken into custody. The man, who had an active failure to appear warrant, was also found with suspected meth and heroin. He now faces charges including simple possession and manufacture, delivery, sale, or possession of methamphetamine. The woman initially provided a false name but was later identified.
