‘People are treating firearms like their cellphones’: Middle TN mayors sign gun safety proclamations

WILSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — Communities across Middle Tennessee are taking action to promote gun safety, signing proclamations to raise awareness on properly securing firearms to help keep children safe.

On Tuesday, Wilson County Mayor Randall Hutto signed a proclamation, which comes after an alarming incident in the county where parents were notified about a gun falling out of a vehicle in a school zone.

Tennessee court ruling means changes for gun owners

In addition to Hutto, multiple mayors across Middle Tennessee signed proclamations for SMART week, a nonpartisan campaign started by Everytown For Gun Safety.
