TN lawmakers call for audit of Memphis police crime data

MEMPHIS, Tenn. —  Memphis Police have been very open in the last few months saying overall crime is down by 20%, but one lawmaker wants the numbers checked.

Over the last few months, the police department has released data saying crime across multiple categories has been going down over the years.

“Violent crime was down 19%, murders were down 29%,” said Mayor Paul Young at a Raleigh town hall.
