Police Captain Critically Injured; Multi-State Manhunt in North Georgia & Southeast Tennessee

Cleveland, TN – Authorities across North Georgia and Southeast Tennessee are on high alert following the shooting of a police captain late Friday night, September 12, 2025.

According to the McCaysville Police Department, Captain Brantley Worley was critically injured around 11:10 p.m. while responding to a call for service on 1st Street in McCaysville, Georgia. Officials say Worley, a longtime member of the department, was attacked in the line of duty and remains in critical condition.

The suspect has been identified as Timothy Craig Ramsey, 26, of McCaysville. Police describe him as a white male, 5’11”, approximately 185 pounds, with long hair and blue eyes. At the time of the incident, he was last seen on foot wearing a green top, dark pants, and a dark motorcycle helmet…
