La Vergne Police and Emergency Services Herald for Swift Action in Saving Infant’s Life

La Vergne police officers saved an infant in distress during the early morning hours after receiving a 5 a.m. emergency call. According to a social media post by the La Vergne Police Department, dispatchers answered a call from a woman reporting that her baby was not breathing. Dispatchers relayed critical information to first responders while keeping the caller on the line.

Sgt. Woodard and other responding officers arrived to find the infant unresponsive. Sgt. Woodard performed life-saving measures to clear the child’s airway, allowing the baby to breathe again. Officers monitored the infant until Rutherford County EMS arrived and transported the child for hospital care, the department reported.
