Tennessee announces new SNAP work requirements, exemptions available

The Tennessee Department of Human Services has announced new work requirements for certain SNAP recipients following the passage of a federal law this summer.

The rules apply to Able-Bodied Adults Without Dependents, ages 18 to under 65, who do not have a disability and do not live with children under 14.

These recipients may only receive SNAP benefits for three months within a three-year period unless they work, volunteer, or participate in job training at least 20 hours per week…
