An elderly woman is in trouble with the law for allegedly writing a $19,000 hot check.
72-year-old Deborah Kay Kolwyck of Toad Road, Dowelltown is charged with violation of the check law. Her bond is $2,200 and she will be in court October 9.
Sheriff Patrick Ray said that Kolwyck recently wrote a check for $19,115 to the Move Connection (furniture moving company) but it was returned for insufficient funds from VyStar Credit Union. He said a representative of Move Connection tried to contact Kolwyck by phone and the company’s attorney sent her a certified letter followed by a second letter through standard mail last month. On September 3, Kolwyck signed for the letter, but she has not responded to either letter or phone calls…
