Gov. Lee unveils $175M in grants to combat crime, $100M allocated for Memphis Task Force

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — Governor Bill Lee has announced $175 million in grants to reduce violent crime and improve public safety across Tennessee.

Beginning Oct. 2, local governments and law enforcement agencies can apply for two programs: the $75 million Violent Crime Intervention Fund and the $100 million Downtown Public Safety Grant Fund. Both were approved in Lee’s fiscal year 2026 budget.

Of the funding, $100 million will go to the Memphis area to support the Memphis Safe Task Force, a multi-agency crime prevention effort.
