Murfreesboro, TN – As Murfreesboro’s neighborhoods transform into haunted wonderlands, the heart of the city is getting in on the action too. Main Street Murfreesboro is once again rallying businesses in the Historic Downtown District to deck out their storefronts in Halloween flair. From whimsical witches to charming scarecrows, it’s all part of a friendly competition that’s become a beloved fall tradition.
The “Scarecrows Downtown” contest invites local merchants, artists, and community groups to create handmade scarecrows and festive displays that line the square. Judging is already underway, with prizes awarded for creativity, craftsmanship, and crowd appeal. Winners will be announced October 13, but the real prize is the joy these decorations bring to families strolling the square.
Sarah Callender, Executive Director of Main Street Murfreesboro, shared her excitement: “Our downtown businesses always bring their A-game for Halloween—it’s a fun, creative competition that really showcases the spirit of our community. And we love seeing families in costume enjoying the square. Trick-or-treating with our merchants on October 31st from 3 to 5 PM is one of the sweetest traditions we have.”…
