Murfreesboro Achieves Community Development Goals, Expands Support for Local Residents

The City of Murfreesboro’s Community Development Department has released its Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report (CAPER) for July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025. The report states that all goals in the 2024-25 Action Plan were met. The city used federal funding to support low- and moderate-income residents.

Community Development Director Robert Holtz said the city works with the federal government and local nonprofit agencies. These partnerships provide public services such as childcare, healthcare, job training, homeless services, and educational programs. Funding comes from Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

In 2024, Murfreesboro received $982,101 in CDBG funds and $409,794 in HOME funds. A total of 658 residents received public service grants, homeownership assistance, housing rehabilitation, and fair housing education.
