More than 100 affected by latest layoff notice out of Rutherford County

RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — Within the span of a week, a second layoff notice was filed out of Rutherford County.

On Thursday, Dexter Stamping Company, LLC, filed a WARN notice with the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development notifying the agency of a permanent closure that went into effect on Tuesday, Oct. 28. In all, 114 workers have been affected by the closure of the facility located on Joe B. Jackson Parkway.

Equipment supplier announces closure of La Vergne facility

Thursday’s filing comes days after a La Vergne equipment supplier, HD Supply, announced that 108 workers would be affected by the permanent closure of their Teledyne Place distribution center starting in January. Earlier this year, the Bridgestone plant and the Saks Fifth Avenue Fulfillment Center also announced layoffs in La Vergne. In Rutherford County alone, 1,411 workers either have been or will be affected by layoffs announced this year. More than 1,200 of those are in La Vergne alone.

Other parts of Middle Tennessee have also been affected by layoffs this year. In Spring Hill, General Motors confirmed that Ultium Cells would temporarily cease battery cell production for a portion of next year. That pause followed the announcement of a permanent closure at a company supporting electric vehicle production lines.
