Second Harvest to activate emergency SNAP plan & start mass food distributions

KINGSPORT, Tenn. (WJHL) — Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee will activate its emergency SNAP plan on Saturday, the food bank announced.

In a news release, Second Harvest stated it will activate the emergency plan to serve 52,000 people who were identified as the most vulnerable population in Northeast Tennessee.

Second Harvest will begin mass food distributions to SNAP recipients throughout the eight counties of Northeast Tennessee on Monday.

Recipients will need to bring their SNAP card and a form of ID. They must also visit the designated pickup location based on their residence. Anyone picking up food for more than one family must also have the other family’s SNAP card and proof of residence.
