UPDATE on Friday Morning I-840 Crash

Murfreewsboro, TN – A terrifying moment unfolded early Friday morning (10/31/2025) when a pickup truck lost control on Interstate 840 westbound and flipped over the concrete barrier near mile marker 56.6, landing on Shacklett Road below — just seconds after a school bus had passed beneath the overpass.

The incident happened near the Sulphur Springs Road exit, west of Murfreesboro, and drew a swift response from the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office. According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the truck’s driver veered off course at the 56-mile marker, causing the vehicle to vault over the edge and crash onto the road below.

Miraculously, the school bus — carrying nineteen students — had just cleared the underpass. While the bus was struck by flying debris, no students were injured. The truck driver also escaped serious harm but was cited for driving without a license, no insurance, and failure to exercise Due Care…
