DCS: Some Tennessee foster children still sleeping in offices when no placements available

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — Tennessee’s Department of Children’s Services (DCS) says some foster children are still spending nights in office buildings when there are no other placement options available.

“We just flat have no other option. There is no other place to put a child,” said DCS Commissioner Margie Quin before the House Finance, Ways and Means Committee during a meeting, last week.

It’s an issue FOX 17 News first exposed several years ago, when video revealed children sleeping on DCS office floors. Quin said this week that while the agency has made major improvements, some instances still occur when there’s no alternative…
