Tennessee Pastors Urge Gov. Lee to Use State Funds for SNAP Recipients

Southern Christian Coalition says state should use emergency funds to fill the SNAP gap

A faith-based advocacy group is calling on Tennessee’s Governor to take action to help SNAP recipients while federal funds remain in limbo.

Since Nov. 1, payments due to recipients of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) have been suspended. Now, Tennessee pastors affiliated with the Southern Christian Coalition say the state should step in to fill the gap.

In a statement sent to the media, the group called on Gov. Lee to release state funds.
