Rutherford County grand jury indicts man accused of injuring 5, including mother and baby, in April crash

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WKRN) — A grand jury indicted a man on multiple counts of aggravated assault and reckless endangerment in connection with an April crash that left five people injured.

According to investigators with the Murfreesboro Police Department’s Fatal Accident Crash Team, 34-year-old Matthew Delk was driving a Buick Enclave along Highway 99 in April when he crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a Toyota Highlander head-on. The impact, authorities said, caused the Highlander to spin into a Cadillac Escalade.

Crews with the Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department cut the driver of the Highlander from the wreckage and a passerby reportedly freed her baby from a car seat before emergency personnel arrived. Additionally, two people in the Escalade suffered minor injuries.
