Tap to pay scams on the rise nationwide

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Tap to pay has become one of the most convenient ways to make purchases for consumers and also the target of scammers across the country.

The Better Business Bureau issued a warning as scams like this surge nationwide, including, in Middle Tennessee.

“This is not a scam to take lightly,” Robyn Householder, who is the CEO of the BBB of Middle Tennessee and Southern Kentucky, said. “The average loss is between $500 and $1,000, that’s a lot of money for someone to lose with one tap.”…
