Tennessee State Parks lead nation with detailed trail signs to boost visitor accessibility

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — Tennessee State Parks have installed new trail signs at several parks to provide visitors with more detailed information about trail conditions.

The signs, also available online, include details such as trail grade, slope, width, and surface type. The information is intended to help all visitors, including those using wheelchairs or all-terrain wheelchairs available at many parks.

Tennessee is the first state to use the High-Efficiency Trail Assessment Process (HETAP) to measure trail specifics such as length, grade, and potential obstructions.
