NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — A Tennessee lawmaker says the case of a registered sex offender accused of attacking a woman in Germantown highlights gaps in how “time served” and probation are handled for violent and sexual offenses and argues it underscores the need for a major overhaul of Tennessee’s criminal justice system.
Joequarius Williams is accused of following a woman home from a concert at Bridgestone Arena and attacking her at her Germantown apartment building. Metro Nashville Police say the woman noticed Williams trailing her after the show and later reported being assaulted once inside her complex.
Williams is a registered sex offender and was already on probation at the time of the alleged attack, according to court records…
