Rutherford County Commissioners concerned over safety, security at public meetings

RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — Some Rutherford County Commissioners voiced concerns over safety and security at public meetings during Monday night’s Public Safety Committee meeting.

“I know you’ve seen it, and we’ve seen it and feel it. There are things that are out there now that have never been out there before, and it’s just causing some discomfort,” Rutherford County Commissioner Jeff Phillips told the committee.

On Monday night, the committee requested law enforcement look into ways the county can add security.

“There’s, once again, been kind of a change in attitude as it relates to some things going on in the community. There is some discomfort that some commissioners have as it relates to feeling, in essence, safe and secure at some of these meetings,” Phillips added…
