Murfreesboro leaders consider adding new road connections to ease traffic

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WKRN) — As Murfreesboro grows, city leaders have been looking to give people more options to get to their destination easier without using busy interchanges and without construction getting in the way of existing property owners or the area’s wetlands.

“I remember when Murfreesboro was just a square. That was it. [Highway ] 231 was just a two-lane [road] and now Barfield area — it was just a gravel road!” long-time Murfreesboro resident David Tramel told News 2.

Murfreesboro Mayor Shane McFarland said the city has been moving forward with a north-south connection from South Rutherford Boulevard to Warrior Drive, so drivers can cross Highway 231 and Interstate 24.
