RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — Despite some opposition, the Rutherford County School Board voted unanimously on Thursday night to move forward with rezoning plans for middle and elementary schools.

Around 160 students would be rezoned from Walter Hill Elementary to Wilson Elementary and 350 students would be rezoned from Stewarts Creek Elementary to Brown’s Chapel Elementary. The zones for several middle schools, including La Vergne, Rock Springs and Poplar Hill, would be extended south.
A recommendation was on the table to grandfather in eighth graders so they won’t have to finish out their education at a new school — that’s if they have parent transportation at their existing middle school…
