SMYRNA, Tenn. (WKRN) — Speed limit changes will soon take effect along Jefferson Pike in Smyrna.
Leaders said the changes should improve safety and efficiency across town.

Smyrna Town Manager David Santucci said the speed limit increase has been a long time coming since the Jefferson Pike expansion project was completed. When the road officially opened, the Tennessee Department of Transportation initially had an idea of what the road’s speed limit should be.
“Now that we have officially taken possession of it, and they have completed that project. We started to get some complaints about how slow it really was,” Santucci said. “So we went ahead and got a traffic analysis study done that showed us that we could increase those speeds of the road while still maintaining safety for its residents.”…
