In a joint operation aimed at curbing impaired driving, the Rutherford County Traffic Safety Task Force detained five individuals for operating vehicles while under the influence during a sobriety checkpoint on Rutherford Boulevard in Murfreesboro. The Murfreesboro TN Police Department’s social media post documented the effort, noting that Tennessee Highway Patrol Lt. Shawn Boyd highlighted the checkpoint’s intention, “to remind drivers not to drive impaired.”
During the operation, officers scrutinized a total of 342 motorists, identifying not only the five impaired drivers but also uncovering other legal infractions. Two of the drivers were charged with simple possession of marijuana, and a single underage driver faced charges for unlawful possession of a firearm. As noted in the post, Lt.
