Coffee County Schools Named in Lawsuit; Sued for $2.5 Million

Coffee County Schools (CCS) has been named among the defendants on a complaint regarding disciplinary action taken at Coffee County Central High School and alleged failures to appropriately accommodate a student’s disability.

The complaint names the Coffee County Board of Education, CCS, Coffee County Central High School (CCCHS), CCS Director of Schools Scott Hargrove, CCCHS Principal Paul Parsley, and any administrators, teachers, or staff members involved in the disciplinary decisions and disability related omissions at issue.

The plaintiff, Danielle Wright, is the guardian of the CCCHS student against whom the disciplinary action was taken. The student was referred to as M.K. throughout the complaint. Wright is seeking $2.5 million from the school system and $1 million each from Hargrove and Parsley for a total of $4.5 million…
