THP running safety checkpoints across Tennessee throughout January

LAWRENCE COUNTY, Tenn. — The Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) will set up a series of sobriety checkpoints across the state throughout January in an effort to reduce impaired driving and prevent alcohol-related crashes. These checkpoints could start as early as New Year’s Eve,

Troopers will be stationed at key locations in both urban and rural counties, including Shelby, Giles, Lawrence, and Maury, among others. Drivers are urged to plan ahead, designate a sober driver, and never get behind the wheel while under the influence.

Some of the scheduled checkpoints include:

  • Dec. 31 – Lawrence U.S. Hwy 43 N. @ 23.4 mile marker
  • Dec. 31 – Moore U.S. 41 A S. .3 m. n. of the Moore/Coffee Co. Line
  • Dec. 31 – Perry S.R. 13 S. 0.4 Miles North of 1 mile marker
  • Jan. 2 – Wayne State Route 13 @ 22.9 Mile marker
  • Jan. 2 – Moore U.S. 41A South .3 miles North of the Moore/Coffee Co. line
  • Jan. 9 – Lewis .2 miles west of 1 mile marker
  • Jan. 16 – Lincoln State Route 50 at the 15.8 mile marker
  • Jan. 16 – Hickman State Route 7 @ 3 mile marker S
  • Jan. 23 – Giles U.S. Hwy 31 9.5 mm
  • Jan. 23 – Lincoln U.S. Highway 231 at the 20.8 mile marker (Belleville)
  • Jan. 23 – Perry S.R. 13 South 0.4 Miles North of 11MM
  • Jan. 30 – Lawrence State Route 98 @ 5.5 mile marker
