Tennessee Implements First Domestic Violence Registry

With the beginning of the new year, the State of Tennessee became the first state to implement a Domestic Violence Registry.

Savanna’s Law, enacted as Tennessee Public Chapter 520, went into effect Jan. 1, requiring persistent domestic violence offenders (those with two or more convictions) to register. The law is designed to prevent future violence by making repeat offenders easier to identify.

The registry, a searchable database, will be managed by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. It will be available to the public online. Each listing will include the offender’s name, date of birth, date of conviction, county of conviction and a photo…
