Stewarts Creek Elementary teacher pleads no contest to charge of assaulting peer

The suspended Stewarts Creek Elementary teacher accused of assaulting a peer accepted a “no contest” diversion plea Jan. 5.

Rutherford County General Sessions Court Judge Ben E. Bennett told accused first-grade teacher Jill-Marie Haynes that her criminal records can be expunged after completing diversion requirements of no arrests for 11 months and 29 days.

Haynes also must comply with a mental health assessment and pay court costs when she returns for a hearing Jan. 4, 2027, to have charges “removed from record,” Judge Bennett told her…
