Tennessee launches mandatory gun safety education videos for K-12 students this year

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — In 2024, the Tennessee General Assembly passed a law requiring firearm safety instruction for all public schools, which will go live across Tennessee school systems this year.

“This is really one of the most important bills we can have that could potentially save lives,” Sen. Richard Briggs (R-Knoxville) said during a 2024 Senate session.

The gun safety training comes in the form of educational videos, with separate presentations for kindergarten through second grade, third through fifth grade and sixth through twelfth grade students.
