Major Drug Bust in East Tennessee: Task Force Seizes Over $10 Million Worth of THC and Fentanyl

In a significant drug enforcement operation in East Tennessee, the Ninth Judicial Drug Task Force, along with various law enforcement partners, has confiscated more than 480 pounds of THC and 5 pounds of fentanyl, with an estimated street value upward of $10 million, as reported by WVLT. The operation is part of an ongoing investigation targeting illicit drug distribution networks that grip the counties of Loudon, Meigs, Morgan, and Roane.

According to WATE, the seized fentanyl amounts to approximately 1.1 million doses, which have a wholesale value of $100,000, yet it is the street value that climbs over $10 million, painting a grim image of the drug’s potential impact on the streets. The seizure stands as a substantial strike to the drug trafficking operations prevalent in the region.

The task force issued a statement on social media lauding the collaborative efforts that successfully led to this seizure, stating “This operation demonstrates the critical work being done to disrupt trafficking networks and prevent these deadly substances from reaching the streets,” as per a WBIR report.
